Did you know?
Squash developed from at least five other sports involving racquets, gloves, and balls having roots in the early 1500s in France.
Monks used gloves that were webbed to hit balls against a fishing net strung across the middle of the courtyards of the monasteries. This developed the early “racquets” used in tennis and squash. Then in late fifteenth century, tennis was developed and spread to other European nations.

Triple Crowns
It has been a great year for the Walker family with Shane and Edna both winning the triple crowns - that is the singles, doubles and
mixed doubles, every event they competed in - that is indeed the ultimate hat trick!
The weather has been kind to us with a fine summer for tennis with very few rain-out days.
We look forward to many more years like this one for playing on the courts - that is rain free on tennis days.
Thanks to everyone for their participation and we look forward to seeing you next year.
With regards, Len & Trish.

Manurewa Challenge
We have had the first leg of the Papakura / Manurewa challenge from which Papakura are proud holders of the trophy.
After play was complete Papakura carried a lead of 56 games to 50, so by all accounts it is too close for our us to rest on its laurels' and expect to retain the trophy for the second challenge.
We need a good showing of club members on the return challenge; not only to show Manurewa that we are serious about retaining the trophy but also to make so much noise in support that it takes Manurewa's roof off.
Stay tuned for the second challenge date.
